Members of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago lead the effort to improve the health of the citizens of Metropolitan Chicago. IOMC membership includes influential, independent health leaders in Chicagoland who work collaboratively across professions, disciplines, and institutions. They are physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, researchers, community health workers, and many others invested in the health of the region. IOMC members bring their unique perspectives and experience to the table to address the most complex health-related issues affecting the region.

In 1999, IOMC established a partnership with the Portes Foundation, which funds two to three grants each year that target the promotion of health or prevention of disease. To date, more than $765,000 has been distributed.
